Brass & copper necklace
with a faceted oval stone
and a real reissued 1930 woman's whistle
Dimension: chain 8cm, whistle 5cm
This whistle is an identical re-edition of a women's whistle dating from the years 1900-1930. The women of this period used to hide a fine and discreet whistle in their neckline, suspended from a chain. They could thus call for help in the event of a bad encounter or to make any robber clear off. Some feminist movements of the beginning of the century used these whistles during demonstrations, in order to claim their emancipation, their desire to assert their voices, their rights and their place in all areas of society.
